Custom Word Lists

Save your own word lists for generators and filters.

Open tool

Overview

Save your own word lists once and reuse them across the generators and filters that accept custom input. Each list has a name, optional tags, and a set of entries you can paste, type, or import. The data lives in your browser, so your private vocabulary stays on your device.

Writers building thematic name pools (sci-fi character names, fantasy place names), game masters maintaining NPC tables, teachers preparing vocabulary sets, and researchers keeping domain glossaries handy all benefit. Once a list is saved, you can pull it into any tool that asks "or use your own list".

How it works

The tool stores each list in your browser's local storage as JSON: a name, tags, an optional description, and the entries themselves. Lists can be imported from a textarea, a pasted CSV, or another tool's output, and exported the same way for backup or sharing. Other tools (random pickers, slug filters, anagram finders) read these saved lists when you select one from a dropdown.

FAQ

Where is my data stored?

In your browser's local storage. Nothing leaves your device unless you explicitly export and share it.

Can I sync lists between devices?

There's no built-in cloud sync. Use the export/import buttons to move a list as JSON or plain text between browsers.

Is there a size limit?

Local storage is typically capped at 5–10 MB per origin. That's room for tens of thousands of entries — enough for almost any single project.

Can other tools see my lists?

Only the tools running in the same browser on the same site. The data isn't shared with anyone, including the site's servers.
