Mad Libs Generator
Fill in the blanks to build a hilarious story from any of six templates.
Overview
The Mad Libs Generator builds a hilarious story by asking you to fill in the blanks. Pick one of six templates — adventures, sports, fairy tales, school days, vacations, mysteries — supply a noun, verb, adjective, or proper noun each time you are prompted, and the tool stitches everything together at the end.
It is the timeless car-ride game, on demand, with no booklet to lose. Play solo for a quick laugh, or hand the device around at a party so everyone contributes a word before the big reveal.
How it works
Each template has a fixed story with gaps marked by part-of-speech labels. You see only the labels — "adjective", "plural noun", "past-tense verb" — never the surrounding text, which keeps the surprise intact. Submit your answers and the completed story renders on screen.
Read it aloud for full effect. The most absurd words usually come from people who have no idea what the story is about, which is why blind input from a group works so well.
Examples
- An "adventures" template ends with: "the brave squid climbed a refrigerator and shouted 'BANANA!' at the moon."
- A "school days" template wraps up: "the principal handed every student a spaghetti and dismissed them at midnight."
- A "fairy tale" produces: "the dragon married a calculator and they lived sleepily ever after."
- A "vacation" closes with: "we packed twelve socks, three bicycles, and one suspicious turnip."

Can I play with a group?

Copy the rendered text out or screenshot it for posterity.
Are the templates kid-friendly?
Yes. All six are family-friendly, with mild and silly humour rather than crude jokes.
