Overview

A pet walk log turns daily dog walks into a running record of activity, distance, and consistency. Each time you head out with your dog, you note how long you walked and roughly how far, and the tool quietly tallies the totals for the day, the week, and all time. Over weeks and months you get a clear picture of how active your pet really is, which is useful for weight management, training progress, energy levels, and conversations with the vet.

This log is built around real households with multiple dogs and varied routines. You can track separate pets in the same log, watch a streak counter climb for consecutive days walked, and compare a slow rainy week against a busy weekend. The numbers are simple to enter and the summary chips give you immediate feedback without any reports, charts, or extra clicks.

How it works

Each walk entry takes a date, a pet name, a number of minutes, and an optional distance in kilometres. Add notes if the walk was unusual, such as a different route or a training session. Save the entry and the totals update instantly: today, this week, and all time, plus a streak counter for the currently selected pet showing consecutive days with at least one logged walk.

Pet names autocomplete from your previous entries, and duration suggestions cover common values like 15, 30, or 45 minutes. The history list is sorted with the most recent walk first, and each row can be deleted inline if you log the wrong duration or pet.

Examples

  • Morning loop: 30 minutes, 2.1 km with Bailey, notes "park trail". The Today chip jumps to 30 min and 2.1 km immediately.
  • Catching up at night: a quick 20 minute walk after dinner adds to today's totals and bumps the weekly count by one.
  • Two dogs in the same household: log Bailey and Whiskers separately and the streak chip updates per pet when you type their name.
  • Building a streak: walk Bailey every day for a week and the flame chip shows "7 days", helping you keep momentum.

FAQ

Do I have to enter a distance?
No. Distance is optional. Minutes is the primary metric, and distance only contributes to totals when you provide it.

How is the streak calculated?
The streak counts the number of consecutive days, ending today, on which the named pet has at least one walk logged. Skip a day and the streak resets.

Can I log multiple walks on the same day?
Yes. Each walk is a separate entry, so a morning and evening walk both count and both contribute to the day's totals.

Why does the streak only show for one pet at a time?
The streak chip uses the pet name currently in the form so you can quickly check any pet by typing their name without filtering the whole list.
