Cleaning Rota
Track recurring cleaning tasks and when they were last done.
Overview
The Cleaning Rota tool helps you track every recurring cleaning task in your home and remember when you last did each one. Instead of relying on vague memory or sticky notes that fall off the fridge, you can log every chore once, set its frequency, and quickly see what is overdue at a glance. It is designed for people who share a home, run a vacation rental, or simply want to bring a little structure to housekeeping without committing to a heavy chore app.
Each task records its name, how often it should repeat, and the date it was most recently completed. The rota then calculates which jobs are coming due, which are on schedule, and which are overdue. Because the data is stored locally in your browser, your cleaning schedule travels with the device and there is no account to set up before you can start tracking.
How it works
Add a task by giving it a name, choosing a frequency such as weekly or monthly, and optionally noting when it was last done. The tool then derives the next due date by adding the interval to that last-completed timestamp. When you finish a task, tap the complete button and the next due date rolls forward automatically.
The list is sorted so the most urgent tasks bubble to the top, and overdue items are visually highlighted. You can edit any task to change its name or cadence, and remove tasks you no longer need. Everything saves to local storage as you go, so there is no save button to forget.
Examples
- Adding "Vacuum living room" with a 7-day frequency and marking it complete each weekend.
- Tracking deep-clean tasks like "Descale kettle" or "Wash shower curtain" on a 90-day cycle.
- Splitting chores in a shared house so each housemate owns a slice of the rota.
- Using it as a turnover checklist for a short-term rental between guests.
FAQ
Where is my rota stored?
Tasks are saved to your browser's local storage on this device. Clearing site data or switching browsers will reset the list.
Can I set custom frequencies like every 10 days?
Yes, choose the custom interval option and enter any number of days that fits your routine.
What happens if I miss a task?
The next due date does not shift forward automatically. The task will appear overdue until you mark it complete, at which point the cycle resets from that day.
Can I share the rota with my household?
The list lives on a single device, so to share it you would need to use the same browser profile or coordinate updates manually between members.
Does it send reminders?
There are no push notifications; the rota relies on you opening it. Many people pin the page or add it to a daily checklist.
