Overview

The Recipe Box is a private place to save the dishes you actually cook, with ingredients, steps, and tags that make rediscovery quick. Bookmarks and screenshots scatter your favourite recipes across three devices and two browsers; a single, structured collection brings them back into one searchable list. It is built for the home cook who wants to capture a recipe in a few seconds and find it again in just as few.

Each recipe holds a title, an ingredients block, a steps block, and optional tags like "weeknight," "vegetarian," or "make-ahead." Tags drive filtering and become especially useful once you have a few dozen recipes, when scrolling alone gets tedious. Everything is stored locally; there is no community feature and no sign-in.

How it works

Add a recipe by entering its title and pasting or typing the ingredients and steps into their fields. Tag it with one or more labels so it falls into the right buckets later. The list view shows all recipes by name; filtering by tag narrows it instantly. Click into a recipe to read it in a clean view that prints nicely.

Editing is in-place. Deleting is a single confirmed click. The whole box lives in browser storage, so the only way to lose it is to clear site data, which the print or save-as-PDF action protects against.

Examples

  • Saving Grandma's chocolate chip cookies tagged "dessert" and "make-ahead."
  • A weeknight chicken stir-fry tagged "weeknight" and "30-minute."
  • A weekend slow-cooker recipe tagged "batch-cook" and "freezer-friendly."
  • A vegetarian curry with tags for both "vegetarian" and "comfort food."

How do I back up my recipes?
Use print-to-PDF to save individual recipes or the full list periodically.
